The ceremony continues with Sungkeman: showing respect to the parents. The parents are invited to come foreward and take a seat. Jasmine is accompanied to her parents and kneels while apologizing to her father for mistakes she may have committed. Then she does the same for her mother. Once ready, both parents stand up. The other guests also stand up.
Irien reads a prayer from the Koran and translates this into Indonesian and into Dutch.
She then confirms her devotion to Islam and says Al-Ikhlas.
Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem | In the name of Allah, Most gracious, Most merciful |
Qul huwa Allahu ahad | Say: He is Allah, the One and Only. |
Allahu 's-samad | Allah, the Eternal, Absolute. |
Lam yalid wa lam yulad | He begetteth not, nor is He begotten. |
Wa lam yakul lahu kufuwan ahad | And there is none like unto Him. |
Jasmine then reads from the Koran and says her creed (al fatihah):
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ | Bismillāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm | In the name of Allah, Most gracious, Most merciful |
Al ḥamdu lillāhi rabbi l-ʿālamīn | Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds |
Ar raḥmāni r-raḥīm | Most Gracious, Most Merciful. |
Māliki yawmi d-dīn | Master of the Day of Judgement |
Iyyāka naʿbudu wa iyyāka nastaʿīn | Thee do we worship, and Thine aide we seek |
Ihdinā ṣ-ṣirāṭa al-mustaqīm | Show us the straight way |
صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنعَمتَ عَلَيهِمْ | Ṣirāṭa al-laḏīna anʿamta ʿalayhim | The way of those on whom Thou has bestowed thy Grace, those whose portion |
غَيرِ المَغضُوبِ عَلَيهِمْ وَلاَ الضَّالِّينَ | ġayri l-maġḍūbi ʿalayhim walā ḍ-ḍāllīn | Is not wrath, and who do not go astray. |
The guests are then invited to congratulate Jasmine and the parents.
